Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar is cautiously optimistic about future relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela
She says, recent talks with Venezuela have been positive.
Yesterday, outside the hall of justice, where she attended the opening of the new law term, Mrs. Persad Bissessar gave little details of the outcome of those talks.
The prime minister said, plans are being explored for a meeting with Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodríguez later this month.
It is to take place on the sidelines of the United Nations general assembly in New York.
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar said, this country and Venezuela have had good relations over the years.
Last year the Venezuelan congress declared misses Persad Bissessar persona non grata during tense periods involving the United States.
The prime minister is also confident the gas will eventually reach Trinidad and Tobago, pointing to the countries’ close proximity and existing agreements with energy companies.
