PM stands by Finance Minister regarding wage restraint

images-4Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley stands by his Finance Minister regarding wage restraint.

 

Dr. Rowley says the manner in which the announcement was made may not have been appropriate.

 

On Wednesday Minister Colm Imbert said there would be no increases in salaries in the Public Sector.

 

The zero zero zero announcement sent ripples through the Trade Union Movement and has been described by the Opposition as a war on the working class.

 

At yesterday’s Post Cabinet News Conference Dr. Rowley said this may have been a case of poor bedside manners.

 

 

However Prime Minister Rowley said the measure was necessary and until the country is doing better this will stand.

 

 

However, Dr. Rowley said this does not mean there will be no collective bargaining.

 

 

Saying there will be no increases in public sector wages.

 

 

The Prime Minister maintained there was no wage freeze at this time but restraint.
