Lifeguards asking for talks with PM

Lifeguards are saying they can no longer guarantee proper services on the beaches because of the many deficiencies they have to work with.

The lifeguards are saying they have no tools to work with, no ambulance service available in the event of trouble, and non-functional towers.

President of the Lifeguard Branch of the National Union of Government and Federated Workers, Augustus Sylvester, is blaming the Ministry of National Security.

Mr. Sylvester said at a news conference yesterday, so much is expected of lifeguards but the authorities are not helping.

He said the reality of COVID-19 has made things worse for the lifeguards.

The branch is asking for talks with the Prime Minister.
