Former government minister Dr. Devant maharaj accuses the prime minister of becoming a communal warlord, rather than a leader of a pluralistic society.
Dr. Maharaj is astonished at the state of race relations in Trinidad and Tobago, after just 18 months of governance by the United National Congress.
He’s accusing Mrs. Persad-bissessar of fanning the flame, by her continued use of derogatory language.
Dr. Maharaj, a former president of the global organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), recalls both he and head of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha, the late Satnarine Maharaj lobbied on cultural and social issues on behalf of the East Indian population.
He comments on the outrage expressed by some over the inclusion of, East Indian acts in an Emancipation Day concert hosted by the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Maharaj was speaking on Tv6’s Morning Edition programme earlier today.
