The Police Social and Welfare Association is taking issue with a US State Department’s “trafficking in persons” report on this country.
The 2016 report states Trinidad and Tobago is failing to investigate and prosecute human traffickers.
It says some law enforcement and immigration officers are part of the problem.
Trinidad and Tobago is now on a tier 2-watch list.
But the police association describes the report as propaganda.
General Secretary Inspector Anand Ramesar says the claims are un-substantiated.
According Inspector Ramesar several units have been established to deal with human trafficking, which were not mentioned in the US State Department report.
Efforts to reach National Security Minister Edmund Dillon on the matter were futile.
