A 52-year-old man is gunned down in Mt. Hope.

He is identified as Phillip aka “Salt” Batholemew.

According to police at around 7pm last evening a man was walking along the road when he was alerted by explosions, he said he then felt a burning sensation in his upper thigh.

He later realized he had been shot.

When he fell to the ground, he saw Mr. Batholemew bleeding and gasping for air.

Police were contacted.

Mr. Batholemew was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police believe it was a robbery incident as two of his three gold chains were missing.

Investigators say the 52-year-old man was shot eight times, five times to the chest and three shots to the back.
