Caroni plant shut down from today, will see more than 500,000 people either without pipe-borne water or a reduced supply.

The Water and Sewerage Authority says, this is as a result of a planned shut down at Caroni water treatment plant.

The shutdown is to facilitate maintenance and upgrades.

It becomes effective from noon today.
