The Opposition turns down an invitation by the government for one of its members to be part of the Road Map to Recovery Committee.

The Vice Chairman of the committee Robert Le Hunte issued the invitation.

Speaking with Newscenter 5 yesterday the Caroni Central MP said when he was approached he asked that a formal request be made to the UNC.

Mr. Le Hunte said he approached Dr. Tewarie as an individual and not a party representative.

He said he wanted Dr. Tewarie on the committee because of his capacity and his experience as former Minister of Planning and principal of the St. Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies.

Dr. Tewarie said the UNC feels it would serve better by sending its proposals to the committee for possible inclusion in the plans.

Mr. Le Hunte confirmed that he received the reply from the Deputy Political Leader of the UNC David Lee.
