The government in Guyana has moved to set up accommodation in schools after State owned sugar company, GUYSUCO began flooding the area of success, in an attempt to get squatters out.

Many of the squatters have rejected the offer by Prime Minister Mark Phillips for them to be housed in a primary school.

An auditorium at the school and some classes has been set up as a refugee camp.

The opposition has slammed the government’s actions against the squatters.

Opposition leader Joseph Harmond says the squatters have become the victims of a heartless government.

Mr. Harmond says many of the squatters are already troubled by COVID-19.

President Irfaan Ali has said the squatters at success need to learn to do things the right way.
