Activist coming out in support pf Chaguanas doctor being investigated for alleged involvement in an abortion done on teenage girl

abortion-debate1One activist is coming out in support of a Chaguanas doctor who is now being investigated for his alleged involvement in an abortion done on a teenaged girl. Last week a fetus was found in the backyard of a house on Caroni Savannah Road.

The discarded 3 month old fetus was linked to a 16 year old girl who reportedly visited the doctor. Police yesterday said the investigation is ongoing. But founder of the Organization for Abused and Battered Individuals, Sherma Alexander Benjamin, says abortions are often done in Trinidad and Tobago.

She finds it shameful that any doctor should be penalised for performing abortions. Mrs. Alexander Benjamin is again calling for a review of the country’s abortion law. Reports have said the doctor has been questioned by police in connection with the aborted fetus.
