Three children are now without a mother following a fire in St. Helena.

43-year-old Dhanmatie Radhoo died at hospital after suffering severed burns about her body in the blaze at her home on Wednesday night.

Newscentre 5 understands that the burglar-proofed windows prevented Ms. Radhoo from escaping the blaze.

The fire service was contacted but upon its arrival, the house was already engulfed in flames.

She was later rushed to hospital after being rescued by fire officials.

However, at around 11:00 pm on Wednesday, Ms. Radhoo died at hospital while undergoing emergency treatment.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on the body.
