It’s nomination day for the December 6th Tobago House of Assembly Election.
Political parties and their prospective candidates are to file the necessary nomination papers with the Elections and Boundaries Commission from this morning.
Five parties are expected to contest the election.
The parties are the ruling Peoples National Movement, the Progressive Democratic Patriots and the Innovative Democratic Alliance.
Also the Unity of The People and the Class Action Reform Movement are in the race.
In January this year Tobagonians went to the polls and returned a tie result.
The PNM won 6 electoral districts and the PDP won 6 as well.
The House of Assembly has since been in a deadlock, unable to hold sittings.
In the National Parliament, approval was given for an increase in the number of districts.
There are now 15 districts being contested.
