4 Hour Vigil in support of Mayor Tim Kee

Unknown-5Earlier a 4-hour vigil in support of Mayor Tim Kee was held by Samuel Stafford and Jovan Persad meant to show solidarity with Mr. Tim Kee. From as early as 5 am, the two men set up shop at Woodford Square saying Mr. Tim Kee’s apology was enough and there is no need for him to step down. Mr. Stafford said Mr. Tim Kee is doing a good job as mayor of the capital city.

He said while he disagreed with the comments made by the mayor, it does not warrant a resignation. According to Mr. Stafford the real issue should be finding Asami Nagakiya’s killer. The vigil began at 5am and ended at 9 a.m.

And the Congress of the People welcomes the mayor’s decision to demit office in light of widespread criticisms following statements murder Ms. Nagakiya. Acting COP political leader, Dr. Anirudh Mahabir, commends Mr. Tim Kee for making such a decision.

Mr. Mahabir believes it is a welcome development in the country’s governance and is in keeping with the highest standards of conduct of all officeholders. He says good governance and respect by elected representatives of the opinions of those they represent are what the COP has been demanding for the past five years.

Mr. Mahabir says in light of this development, it is necessary also that every effort be made by the police service to ensure that the person or persons responsible for the murder of Asami Nagakiya are brought swiftly to justice. Successful detection of this matter will help repair the damage also made to the country’s global image and its relations with Japan.
