Grenada’s Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell has formally handed over the Ministry of Finance portfolio to Gregory Bowen.

However he has urged that the country does not drop its guard in the fight against the coronavirus, which has impacted the local economy.

Dr. Mitchell is also urging the heads of departments and units in the Ministry of Finance to continue close monitoring of government spending.

The Prime Minister told them they must be careful about how they operate and recognise the significant impact the pandemic is having on economies around the world.

According to the Prime Minister, it is troubling that some financial transactions are being conducted as if nothing has changed.

He insisted resources are limited and therefore things must be examined more carefully.
