A 44-year-old unemployed man is facing 7 counts of sexual penetration of a child and 1 count of attempted suffocation.

The man was arrested by officers of the Northeastern Division Child Protection Unit during an exercise was spearheaded by (AG) W/Supt George, ASP Nowbutt and supervised by Inspector Davidson.

A release from the TTPS says a 10-year-old girl confided in her aunt and grandmother that she was being repeatedly raped.

A report was made to the Child Protection Unit Northeastern Division, and PC Hospedales was detailed to conduct enquiries.

His investigations revealed that during the period March 2019 and September 9^th, 2020, the suspect sexually assaulted the girl on numerous occasions and during one encounter he attempted to suffocate her using a pillow. The suspect was arrested and charged for the offences on September 14^th.
