St. Lucia’s tourism minister Lorne Theophilus is concerned about criminal attacks on visitors.
Vendors in Castries have complained of assaults on visitors in the city, saying these incidents are hurting their bottom line.
Minister Theophilus yesterday said it is a situation which would obviously trigger concern.
But while the vendors have been saying there have been daily attacks on visitors, the minister believes the attacks are not the only reason for slow sales.
Last month the president of the vendors association also called on the authorities to address the problem of crime and its impact on tourism.
