The Broadwalk, Chaguaramas, is the new venue for Sunday’s CBL Dragon Boat Festival from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
This change from the Waterfront, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, was due to the planned sitting of Parliament on Saturday resulting in a limited time “set up” frame for the Festival.
Apart from the venue change from the City to Chaguaramas, the event is expected to bring families and patrons to the western peninsula to witness one of the traditional Chinese Festivals that has a history spanning over 2000 years.
The Dragon Boat Festival has grown in popularity over the past ten (10) years and this year will see twenty six (26) teams competing for the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Challenge Trophy.
The event is free of charge and open to the public. Patrons can enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine and traditional Chinese performances including the Lion and Dragon Dances, the dotting of the eye ceremony.
Additionally, there be will be entertainment by the T&T Chinese Steel Ensemble and Edwin “Crazy” Ayoung.
The Tourism Development Company (TDC) and the Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) will be partnering with the Dragon Boat Festival 2015.
