There are fears that the murder of notorious central businessman and alleged gang leader, Selwyn “Robocop” Alexis could lead to other attacks.
Police Inspector Roger Alexander confirms this.
Speaking with Newscenter 5 this morning Inspector Alexander said security has been beefed up in the Enterprise area.
Mr. Alexis, Kevin Escayg and his 4-year-old son Kishard Scott were shot during an attack on Freedom Street, Enterprise, Chaguanas yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Escayg died of his wounds and Mr. Alexis was able to shoot and kill one of the attackers, now identified as Thomas Hamza Sharpe.
Little Kishard was up to last evening at hospital. The shootings are reported to have occurred at around 4:30pm.
It is said Mr. Alexis, Kevin Escayg and 4-year-old Kishard were standing in the yard of the car wash when a man approached them.
While the man was speaking with Mr. Alexis two vehicles stopped close to them and the occupants got out and began shooting.
The man talking to Mr. Alexis also drew a gun and fired several shots.
While Mr. Alexis was hit several times he was able to fire some shots at his attackers.
Mr. Sharpe was hit while the others fled the scene, leaving him behind.
Police in central say they are preparing for an increase in attacks following the incident.
Robocop was 52-year-old.
Kevin Escayg was from San Juan.
