The Communication Workers’ Union wants minister of Land and Legal Affairs Saddam Hosein to keep his promise that, Hilton workers’ jobs are safe.
Secretary General Joanne Ogeer says, more than 250 Hilton Trinidad workers are still waiting for answers about their future, with the hotel’s lease set to expire on september 18th.
Speaking with News centre Five yesterday, Mrs. Ogeer said, workers have already received calculations of their potential severance packages, despite assurances given to them in June that their jobs were safe.
Mrs. Ogeer also wants to know who is responsible for the sending home of workers.
She rejected any suggestion that the union’s position is politically motivated, pointing out that both PNM and UNC supporters make up the hotel’s workforce.
