Three Nissan Tiidas are reportedly stolen from a car dealership in chaguanas owned by Visham Babwah. Mr. Babwah is the president of the used car dealers association. This incident occurred shortly after 1 o’clock yesterday morning and is said to have to have taken place hours after police sent a warning to Tiida owners, saying that that model of vehicles is a target by car thieves.
Mr. Babwah tells us it appears that the bandits planned to clean out his business. Speaking with Newscentre 5 yesterday Mr. Babwah said due to the quick reponse of the police the vehicles were retrieved. He said one was found a short distance away from the establishment while the other two were discovered in Laventille. Mr. Babwah beleives he was targeted. On Wednesday Sgt. Christopher Swamber called on Tiida owners of such vehicles to install anti-theft devices. He also said some 211 vehicles have been stolen during the first quarter of 2016. Visham Babwah does not believe the government or the police have a grip on the crime situation facing the country. He said just about every sector is affected by banditry.
